Preston Sports Arena (now called UCLAN Sports Arena)
The 12-16yr olds will be coached
by the more senior UEFA and FA qualified coaches
focussing on a development programme of ball control,
passing and possession with the use of highly demanding
ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball,
turning, shooting and team play which will assist them
with their decision making in match situations.
The 12-14s will be coached in one group with the 14-16s
in another group
Those 11yr olds who would like a further challenge may
move up to this group for a week or so to see how they
cope. On agreement with the parents and Director of
coaching, Jed Starkey UEFA ‘A’ Coach, they can stay in
this
group if they wish.
Each 1 hour session will consist of a warm up, technical
coaching followed by skills development and then end
with a highly competitive practice mini soccer match.
The development programme runs every week all year round
however follows a 6 week development programme which
concludes with a mini soccer tournament.
After the 6th week tournament, we start all over again
with week 1 of a new six week cycle. You can attend any
of the weeks, all of them or just come along when you
can. Once you have completed a registration form, you
are a member of this Soccer Development Centre.
The programme is designed to be available to every child
regardless of ability from beginner to the more advanced
players. At most session scouts from local youth leagues
and Professional Clubs come along to see how players are
developing with those players who show exceptional
potential are asked to go along to their development
centres or clubs. Players have progressed from this
centre to local junior league teams, Centre of
Excellence at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers,
Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers.
We also offer players who ate 15 plus a chance to become
part of your young coaches’ scheme which will see them
assist our coaches and then be placed on FA Coaching
courses which will then see them become a part of our
coaching staff in the future.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to
register and pay, please don’t forget the shin pads and a
drink.
